BIOGRAPHY

TRAINING: I also work at the gym, so when I wake up, I just eat breakfast and then I’m off to the gym. Depending on the weather, I either walk or go with my skateboard. If morning training is scheduled, I do it by myself at the gym and start to work after that. Morning workouts can be anything from mobility and gymnastics to maximum strength and running. I work about six hours and then it’s time for the evening training, which is usually MMA or submission wrestling. We do a lot of fun things like play different games and do gymnastics, but we also do a lot of technique and sparring. We try to do a lot of different things so that training never gets boring by being always the same. And all of us always train together, so it doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a professional fighter, at our gym everyone is equal. When the workout is done, it’s time to talk some nonsense with each other and get ready to head home. At that point I’m usually so tired I try to get someone to drive me home. I can’t afford to get my own driver’s license or a car, but luckily I have great friends at the gym and I’ll always at least have my skateboard, which I love by the way. When I get home I talk nonstop for two hours and tell everything about my day to my fiancé and at the end of the day I usually fall asleep on the floor or, if I’m lucky, on the couch.

Thoughts on opponent, Claudia Gadelha?
She’s very athletic and has good ground skills. Her abs are impressive.

When and why did you start training for fighting?
When I was teenager, 15 or so, I had a lot of bottled up anger and bad energy inside of me. One of my close friends thought that boxing would be a great way for me to let the steam out and I fell in love with fighting the first time I went to the gym. I loved the good feeling I got from the gym, and any way I think about it, getting into sports is the best thing ever happened to me. At the age of 20 I just lost my interest in boxing. I loved to fight but boxing never was anything but a hobby to me. Then that same friend stepped in again and introduced me to MMA. My goal was to fight just once. Just that one time so I would know how it feels. And I’m still on that road.

What ranks and titles have you held?
Nominated for “Flyweight of the Year” and “Submission of the Year” at the 2013 WMMA Awards

Do you have any heroes?
No. Except Farm Heroes Saga – the game in my phone. 😉

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
When I got the UFC deal, it honestly was the first time in my career I realized I should appreciate myself more. In a good way the deal changed the way I see myself. I used to be really insecure and I still am a little bit, but now I can also be proud of myself and say that I do deserve this opportunity and I deserved it by being the fighter and the person I am.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
I don’t have any education.

What was your job before you started fighting?
I’ve always had to work although I also fight and I still have to work. I’ve been a waitress, bartender, a trainer and a salesman. Now I work at the gym and my job is to clean up after classes, sell equipment, handle some of the bills and instruct classes.
